Many of us sports fans tuned in last Friday to watch the Tyson-Paul fight. Likewise, many of us did not have the best viewing experience due to buffering and outages. (Honestly, kind of expected that.) Even though Netflix first stream of live sports resulted with a landslide of viewers, everyone wants to know if they will be ready for the next event without glitching?

Netflix has signed a multi-year deal to live-stream WWE Raw wrestling events and they also have 3-year rights to live stream the NFL’s Christmas Day games. As the Motley Fool put it, these upcoming “streaming events will require fortified content delivery services in advance. Netflix cant afford to patch up an underpowered system with duct tape and bubble gum on the fly.”

Live stream sports are just another game changer to the media mix for advertisers. We’ll be watching to see how the next one goes. Will you?

Netflix will live stream the two Christmas Day marquee games: Kansas City Chiefs will face the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 PM ET; then at 4:30 PM ET, the Baltimore Ravens will take on the Houston Texans.

One week ago today, we were challenged with a very difficult task... Our task was to sample brewers and produce content to promote upstate brewers! We had so much fun with @aquickbeer and fellow LIFTee - Cass! Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football is currently 4-1. The Midshipmen and Fighting Irish will meet for the 97th time in their storied football history and for the second time at MetLife Stadium.

The Boston Red Sox have been knocking it out of the park with promotional partnership marketing. By utilizing themed game nights and cultural celebration events, the ticket offices are drawing in crowds beyond the usual baseball-loving fans. Throughout the 2024 season, the Red Sox have been hosting theme nights on certain games, with pre-game events dedicated to the theme. For example: educator appreciation; Sesame Street; and swimming. With cultural celebration nights to promote various ethnic groups. The events usually come with custom or limited-time goodies, such as a jersey.

The most recent theme night was in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the hit anime One Piece – which tells the story of Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat crew’s adventures as they navigate the grand line in search for the legendary treasure, the One Piece. As the show recently became a live-action series on Netflix, the original show and the live-action remake alike are seeing major spikes in popularity. By leveraging non-sports events and promoting themes based on other interests, the Red Sox box office is able to tap into demographics that would otherwise be less likely to purchase a ticket – turning opportunities into strengths.

Love them or hate them, you have to give the Red Sox credit where it’s due.
